Guidelines

Fiction Submissions

1,000 -10,000 words. Since we are starting out, please edit to the best of your ability, polish it until you can do no more. No needless gore, sex or profanity. Anything involving children in adult/sexual situations will be automatically tossed. Horror, Dark Fantasy, Terror only. We accept reprints. We also accept multiple submissions, but it is not a definite that all will be published. If we choose to keep your piece for a later date we will tell you so. Some of our issues may be themed. We'll post here the issues that will be themed. If any issue is themed, you will have to check here, and it'll be a month or so before publication.

Poetry Submissions

I cannot give you a set word limit on poetry, knowing that it is really hard to give such a thing. What we are looking for are dark poetry, nothing that sounds extremely suicidal or "Woe is Me". We want haunting verses. Again, nothing that deals with children in a negative way, anything sexual or adult involving them. By all means write some dark erotic poetry, just leave the kids out of the picture. ( I know it sounds twisted, but I am saying it for liability reasons)

Artwork Submissions

We are in search of artists, both color and black and white. We need color artists for cover art, we cannot print color inside of the magazine, due to the higher cost of pages in color. Meanwhile, any pen drawings or anything done in black and white might be able to grace the inside of our magazine, hopefully accompanying a truly gruesome story.

I have a soft spot for any horror comic shorts. So if you are a comic book artist with a short 2-5 page comic strip we will accept those too. Email me regarding anything that is not clear, I am always open for discussions.

Review/Music/Ads

Well, we are completely open to ads, reviews, bands wanting to get noticed. If you are submitting a piece about bands or a review please give us a site to go to so we may check these things out. Ads can be about 1/4 to 1/3 of a page, a select few will be able to do full page ads, but only by email will they get confirmation. I am not playing favorites, it's just due to sometimes HAU has received quite a few submissions and we'd like to accommodate everyone.
